Christ UMC

Christ United Methodist Church began in 1963, when it's first pastor, Rev. William Strickland, was appointed to organize a new church in Bowling Green. On June 23, 1963; the first meeting was held in the Crescent Bowling Alley and on November 1, 1963 the Church was officially organized with 50 charter members. The new church was consecrated on May 16, 1965. In 1976, the mortgage was paid off. In January of 1977 the note was burned and the building was formally dedicated. In the early 1980's there was an addition of classrooms and office space. Later in the 1980's, because of the larger attendance, a new fellowship hall and more classrooms were added with a connection built between the original building and the fellowship hall. During the winter of 2001 the Family Life Center was constructd with a new kitchen, more restrooms, a shower room and a basketball court. The following year a wing was added between the Family Life Center and connector to the Fellowship Hall. This included office spaces and classrooms.
