Adult Class Choices

Dorsey - Class members are mostly in the second half-century of their lives. This class uses the Adult Bible Studies, which is the Methodist version of the International Sunday School Lessons, and class activity tends toward teacher led discussions. Teaching duties are rotated, usually monthly, between three teachers, with occasional substitutes.

Garden - In depth study of one book of the Bible at a time. The class chooses which book to study and the teacher provides various insights about each verse. Class discussion is encouraged.

Potpourri - This class began in the mid 70's as the young adult class. We study from the International Lesson each Sunday. We are active in service projects here at the church and at Camp Loucon. We have laid tile, roofed & painted cabins and painted several Sunday School rooms. We try to have a monthly get-together for fun and fellowship. We have canoed on the Barren River, gone white water rafting with the youth, taken in plays at Horse Cave Theater, and every December we have a caroling party.

Joy - A wide age range makes up this class; singles, married couples, with and without children. Class focus is on the Cokesbury Methodist Doctrine. Fall focus is on the Old Testament and Spring focus is on the New Testament. There is a lot of class discussion, in small and large groups. Emphasis is placed on how to relate lessons to everyday issues.

Open Door - Originally begun as an Adult Singles class, it has expanded to include married couples. The International Sunday School Lesson is used as the basis for class discussion and there is a lot of participation by class members.

Bible - The Bible is ageless and so are this class's members. Two classes regrouped and merged together to establish this class. The class continues to focus on a traditional, yet dynamic and interactive, review and discussion of the Scriptures. There is no need to be a Bible Scholar for this class. Discussions are intended to allow lives to be guided by the Holy Spirit with and through the written word of Our Lord.
